Job summary

Reed is seeking a Finance Manager to join its finance team on a full-time, permanent basis. The role is office-based with on-site attendance five days per week, in the United Kingdom. You will lead month-end close, manage management accounts, and provide financial insight to support business decisions.

The ideal candidate is a professionally qualified accountant (ACCA/CIMA/ACA or equivalent) with strong Excel skills and experience with ERP/accounting systems. Competitive benefits are offered.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage the month-end close process and financial reporting.
  • Prepare and review monthly management accounts with commentary.
  • Oversee reconciliations, controls, and balance sheet integrity.
  • Support budgeting, forecasts, and cash flow projections.
  • Coordinate year-end reporting, audits, and statutory accounts.
  • Oversee AP/AR, costing, intercompany reconciliations, and transfers.
  • Deliver financial analysis to senior management and drive improvements.

Finance Manager

Salary: £45,000 - £50,000 per annum
Job Type: Full-time, Permanent
Working Hours: Monday to Friday, 08:30 - 17:00
Location: Office-based, requiring on-site attendance five days per week

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and manage the month-end close process, ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting.
  • Prepare and review monthly management accounts, providing insightful commentary on financial performance and key variances.
  • Manage balance sheet reconciliations and ensure robust financial controls are maintained.
  • Support the preparation of annual budgets, forecasts, and cash flow projections.
  • Coordinate year-end reporting requirements, including audit preparation and statutory accounts.
  • Oversee the Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable functions, ensuring accuracy, efficiency, and compliance.
  • Take ownership of standard costing processes and support transfer pricing activities.
  • Review and manage intercompany reconciliations across multiple entities.
  • Deliver timely financial analysis, reports, and recommendations to senior management to support strategic decision-making.
  • Identify and implement improvements to financial processes, systems, and controls.
  • Partner with operational stakeholders to provide financial support and commercial insight.
  • Lead and contribute to finance-related projects and continuous improvement initiatives.
Skills & Experience
  • Professionally qualified accountant (ACCA, CIMA, ACA or equivalent).
  • Previous experience in a Finance Manager, Management Accountant, Senior Financial Accountant, or similar role.
  • Strong technical accounting knowledge, including double-entry bookkeeping, reconciliations, financial reporting, and VAT.
  • Advanced Excel skills and experience working with ERP/accounting systems.
  • Proven ability to analyse financial data and communicate findings to both finance and non-finance stakeholders.
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
  • A proactive and collaborative approach, with a focus on driving process improvements and delivering business value.
  • Manufacturing industry experience would be advantageous but is not essential.
