Job summary

Curtiss-Wright Wimborne seeks a Head of Finance to lead the finance team through month-end and year-end closes, budgeting and all financial reporting. You will support the group controller with in-depth analysis and ensure a robust internal control environment.

The role requires a qualified accountant with proven financial management experience, capable of strategic thinking, driving governance, and guiding audit and tax activities within a highly regulated context.

Qualifications

• Holds an accounting qualification (CIMA / ACA / CA / etc.).
• Proven experience of financial management, including budgeting and financial reporting.
• Strategic thinker with clear analytical skills and the ability to balance long-term and short-term priorities.
• Commercially and financially astute with strong negotiation and decision-making skills.
• Strong leadership and people management skills.

Responsibilities

• Ensure the accuracy, integrity and timeliness of financial reporting and compliance with relevant standards.
• Report on financial results to Group Finance, Divisional Finance and Senior Director of the Business Unit.
• Explain variances to forecasts and performance.
• Maintain strong governance culture and control environment.
• Lead the establishment and development of systems and procedures to deliver best practice.
• Lead continuous improvement activities and assist with internal audit testing (SOX).
• Oversee VAT, RDEC submissions and other tax documents with Group tax.
• Assist with year-end external audits and prepare year-end financial statements.
• Lead completion of ONS surveys and other government reporting requirements.
• Implement Group KPIs and ensure accurate analysis of results.
• Set budget targets aligned with group/divisional goals and oversee the budget process.
• Develop and coach the finance team to deliver results.
