Job Description
As Finance Director, you will be responsible for the company finances and act as a key advisor to the CEO:
Strategy and Leadership:
- Develop and implement the organisation's financial strategy to support growth, sustainability, and long-term goals.
- Provide financial insights and recommendations to the CEO, Senior Leadership Team, and board of directors.
- Lead the financial planning and analysis process, ensuring alignment with organisational priorities.
Financial Management & Operations
- Oversee all financial operations.
- Manage the preparation of accurate and timely financial statements, budgets, and forecasts.
- Ensure robust financial controls, policies, and procedures are in place and adhered to.
- Monitor and optimize working capital, ensuring sufficient liquidity to meet operational needs.
Budgeting & Reporting
- Lead the annual budgeting process, working closely with department heads to ensure realistic and achievable goals.
- Prepare and present financial reports to stakeholders, including variance analysis, cash flow forecasts, business performance, and other KPIs.
- Support department heads with financial analysis to improve efficiency.
- Ensure compliance with financial regulations, tax requirements, and reporting standards.
- Identify financial risks and implement strategies to mitigate them.
- Ensure financial controls are in place and adhered to.
- Oversee compliance with all financial, legal, accreditation, and regulatory requirements, including GAAP, tax, and banking regulations.
- Liaise with auditors, tax specialists, and others to ensure proper monitoring of company finances and timely delivery of audits and regulatory reports.
- Ensure all company insurances are in place and cost-effective.
- Oversee the compliance function, ensuring adherence to ISO, PCI, and Health & Safety standards.
- Lead and mentor the finance team, fostering a culture of excellence, collaboration, and continuous learning.
- Develop and implement training programs to enhance the skills of the finance team.
- Assist the finance team with month-end, year-end, and budgeting processes.
Partnerships & Stakeholder Engagement
- Collaborate with external stakeholders, including auditors, banks, insurance, and legal partners.
- Advise on the financial feasibility of new programs, initiatives, and investments.
Board Duties & Company Secretary
- Member of the Board of Directors and Senior Leadership Team.
- Maintain statutory books, including registers of directors, shareholders, charges, minutes, and debenture holders.
- Arrange meetings of the directors.
- Ensure the security of legal documents.
Corporate
- Lead financial due diligence for acquisitions or sales if required.
- Work with the CEO on presentations, forecasts, and plans for acquisitions.
- Collaborate with advisors to deliver required outputs.
The Successful Applicant
Key Requirements:
- A strong academic background in finance, accounting, or a related field.
- Professional accreditation (ACA, ACCA, CIMA).
- Proven experience in a senior financial managerial position.
- Strong knowledge of financial management, budgeting, and forecasting.
- Proficiency in financial software and tools.
- Strong leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
- Excellent analytical and strategic thinking abilities.
- Energetic, dynamic, enthusiastic, and highly motivated with a passion for excellence, self-development, and innovation.
- Commercially astute, technically strong, and capable of operating at both strategic and operational levels.
