Job summary

Greenwell Gleeson is recruiting a UK Finance Director for an established international manufacturing group. You will lead finance across the UK operations, partnering with site leadership and Group Finance to improve profitability, strengthen financial control and support investment decisions.

You will be an ACA, ACCA or CIMA qualified finance leader with substantial experience in a complex manufacturing environment, overseeing multiple sites and driving financial performance across the UK.

Greenwell Gleeson is recruiting a UK Finance Director for an established international manufacturing group. With UK turnover of approximately £250m across multiple manufacturing facilities, this is a substantial leadership opportunity combining strategic influence with hands-on operational involvement.

The Opportunity

You will lead finance across the UK operations, partnering with site leadership and Group Finance to improve profitability, strengthen financial control and support investment decisions.

The role requires a commercially minded finance leader who can translate complex financial information into clear actions, challenge performance constructively and develop an effective finance function across multiple locations.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead UK financial planning, budgeting, forecasting and management reporting, providing clear insight into performance, risks and opportunities.
• Partner with operational leaders to improve margins, productivity and cost efficiency across the manufacturing sites.
• Strengthen manufacturing costing, inventory control and variance analysis to support better operational decisions.
• Oversee cash flow and working capital, with particular focus on stock and capital expenditure.
• Ownership of the overall finance teams at a site level and the UK shared service centre.
• Evaluate investment proposals, development projects and capital expenditure, monitoring returns and delivery against business cases.
• Provide financial oversight of the R&D site, supporting project planning, expenditure control and performance reporting.
• Ensure robust accounting, financial controls and compliance with statutory and Group reporting requirements.
• Lead and develop finance teams across the UK, promoting consistent processes, effective systems and continuous improvement.
• Lead a number of finance transformation project aim at further improving overall financial performance.

About You

You will be an ACA, ACCA or CIMA qualified finance leader with substantial experience in a complex manufacturing environment. You may already be operating as a Finance Director or be an experienced Financial Controller ready to take on a broader UK leadership remit.

You will bring:

• Strong operational finance experience, including manufacturing costing, inventory and capital investment.
• Experience overseeing multiple sites and working within an international group.
• A track record of improving financial performance, controls and reporting.
• The confidence to influence senior stakeholders and challenge operational decisions.
• A visible, collaborative leadership style and a commitment to developing people.
• Strong ERP and reporting systems knowledge; SAP experience would be advantageous.
