Job summary

Fawkes & Reece London Finance Director role is a full-time, permanent position based in Romford. The candidate must have strong construction experience to lead the finance function and partner with project teams.

The role covers FP&A, financial control, governance, and leadership of the finance and project accounting teams across multiple entities, with a focus on robust reporting, compliance, and continuous system improvements in a construction-focused environment.

Responsibilities

• Lead annual planning, budgeting, and rolling cash flow forecasting processes.
• Review contract CVRs, WIP, and project margins.
• Monitor financial performance through KPIs and operational reporting.
• Oversee statutory reporting, management accounts, and financial/audit compliance.
• Ensure adherence to CIS (Construction Industry Scheme) and long-term contract accounting rules.
• Manage working capital, credit control, and treasury/cash management across multi-entity portfolios.
• Lead, mentor, and develop the finance and project accounting teams.

Core Responsibilities

Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A)

• Lead annual planning, budgeting, and rolling cash flow forecasting processes.
• Review contract Cost-Value Reconciliations (CVRs), work in progress (WIP), and project margins.
• Monitor financial performance through key performance indicators (KPIs) and operational reporting.

Financial Control & Governance

• Oversee statutory reporting, management accounts, and financial/audit compliance.
• Ensure strict adherence to construction-specific regulations, tax requirements (such as CIS - Construction Industry Scheme in the UK), and long-term contract accounting rules.
• Manage working capital, credit control, and treasury/cash management across multi-entity portfolios.

Leadership & Systems

• Lead, mentor, and develop the finance and project accounting teams.
• Drive continuous improvement in finance systems, controls, and reporting workflows
