Job summary

Axon Moore is partnering with a growing, private equity-backed manufacturing business in Chester to appoint a Finance Director. The role leads a small finance function and acts as a commercial partner to drive performance and support growth.

You will provide strategic insight, enhance reporting and controls, and work with investors and stakeholders to deliver operational and financial improvements across the organisation.

Qualifications

• Experience at Finance Director, Head of Finance or senior finance leadership level.
• Experience in PE-backed environments or appetite to move into one.
• Strong commercial acumen to influence decision-making across the business.
• Manufacturing, engineering or product-based sector experience.
• Hands-on SME environment with varied daily tasks.

This is an exciting opportunity to join a growing SME at a pivotal stage in its journey, working closely with an experienced leadership team, investors, and key stakeholders to drive performance and support the next phase of growth.

As Finance Director, you'll lead the small finance function whilst acting as a true commercial partner to the business. You'll provide strategic insight, enhance reporting and controls, and play a key role in delivering operational and financial improvements across the organisation.

We're looking for someone who:

• Has experience operating at Finance Director, Head of Finance or senior finance leadership level
• Understands the demands and pace of a PE-backed environment (or has a strong appetite to move into one)
• Brings strong commercial acumen and can influence decision-making across the business
• Has manufacturing, engineering or product-based sector experience
• Thrives in a hands-on SME environment where no two days are the same
