Job summary

Marks Sattin is partnering with a growing manufacturing business to appoint an experienced Finance Director who will lead the finance function, ensure a robust control environment and provide strategic financial leadership to support the next phase of growth.

You will own statutory reporting, manage external audits, oversee monthly management accounts and board reporting, strengthen governance and risk management, and partner with operations to drive cost efficiency and capital decisions.

Qualifications

• Qualified accountant with ACA/ACCA or equivalent.
• Experience in manufacturing, industrial, engineering, or product-based environments.
• Strong background in statutory reporting, external audit management, and technical accounting.
• Excellent understanding of financial controls, compliance, and governance requirements.
• Proven leadership across finance and operations, with credibility among internal and external stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead all statutory reporting activities, ensuring compliance with relevant accounting standards and regulatory requirements
• Own the year-end process and manage relationships with external auditors, ensuring a smooth and timely audit
• Act as the technical accounting lead, providing guidance on complex accounting matters and new accounting standards
• Oversee the preparation of monthly management accounts, board reporting, and financial performance analysis
• Strengthen financial controls, governance, and risk management frameworks across the organisation
• Lead cashflow management, budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning processes
• Partner with operational and manufacturing teams to improve financial visibility, cost control, and efficiency
• Support business growth initiatives, capital investment decisions, and process improvements across the manufacturing operation
• Develop and mentor the finance team, fostering a high-performing finance function

About You

• Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA or equivalent)
• Significant experience within manufacturing, industrial, engineering, or product-based businesses
• Strong background in statutory reporting, external audit management, and technical accounting
• Excellent understanding of financial controls, compliance, and governance requirements
• Proven leadership experience with the ability to build credibility across finance and operations
• Strong stakeholder management and communication skills
• Commercially aware, with the ability to balance technical excellence and business support
• Hands-on, pragmatic, and capable of operating effectively in a fast-paced environment
