British Airways is seeking a Principal Data Engineer in Finance & Transformation to lead hands-on data engineering, oversee ingestion, storage and processing across the organisation, and drive DevOps-aligned improvements. The role combines technical depth with people leadership under an agile framework.

You will guide data pipelines, mentor seniors, and ensure secure, cost-efficient data platforms. A strong background in cloud data tools and data security is essential.

Formación

• Proven SQL development experience.
• Experience with data ingestion, processing and storage in cloud-native tooling.
• Experience with Snowflake, AWS, DBT or similar PaaS/SaaS offerings.
• Knowledge of enterprise data management and security at scale.
• Understanding of data modelling and optimisation.
• Expertise in data processing, testing and monitoring practices.

Responsabilidades

• Lead building, testing and deployment of data pipelines.
• Maintain and operate data products for availability and performance.
• Ensure data flows are secure and well-documented.
• Lead reviews, health checks and root cause analyses for reliability.
• Define standards for data processing documentation and version control.
• Support engineering patterns, coding standards and automated testing.
• Lead agile ceremonies and delivery planning.
• Collaborate with data product teams to improve developer experience.
• Line manage Senior Data Engineers and participate in on-call rotations.
