Job summary

The Guardian is seeking a Data Analyst to join the Finance team on a 6-month fixed term contract or staff secondment. You will support data-driven decision-making, producing high-quality analyses and clear insights across functions.

The role is embedded in the Financial team with a hybrid work model (Kings Cross office, at least 3 days in the office). You will use SQL and data visualization tools to uncover patterns, contribute to data mapping/migration/testing, and help shape how insights are

Qualifications

• Hands-on experience with SQL and large datasets in a professional or academic setting.
• Experience delivering analysis and interpreting data to support decision-making.
• Familiarity with data visualization tools (Tableau, Looker).
• Understanding of how data can support business or editorial objectives.
• Ability to analyze unstructured data and interest in forensic details.
• Data mapping, data migration and data testing experience is a plus, not essential.

Responsibilities

• Contribute to high-quality, stakeholder-relevant analysis.
• Maintain analytics rigour while supporting insight communication and peer learning.
• Develop strong working relationships with peers and stakeholders across functions.
• Use SQL and visualization tools to uncover patterns and generate insights.
• Support onboarding and collaborate on larger projects with more senior colleagues.
• Apply data analytics to system testing and validation.
