Job summary

Baker Charles is recruiting for a newly created Financial Controller position with a large, multi-site retail & distribution business based in Birmingham.

Reporting to the Finance Director, this is a broad leadership role with responsibility across financial control, statutory and Group reporting, treasury, working capital, finance systems and the wider back-office finance operation, including Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, cash management and payroll.

Qualifications

• Fully qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA or CIMA) with leadership experience in finance.
• Proven track record in financial control, reporting and transformation.
• Experience in multi-site retail, distribution, or complex environments is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Lead and develop teams across financial reporting, accounting, treasury and payroll.
• Own month-end and year-end close, improving speed, accuracy and quality.
• Strengthen balance sheet governance, controls and documentation.
• Lead statutory reporting and external audit processes.
• Develop stronger quarterly and periodic reporting disciplines.
• Collaborate with Group Finance on US GAAP and wider reporting.
• Manage cash, liquidity, working capital and treasury controls.
• Drive finance transformation, process redesign, automation and data tech.
