Job summary

Accountable Recruitment Limited is seeking a qualified accountant to become the most senior finance professional on site in Hitchin. You will partner directly with the leadership team to drive performance, cash generation and strategic decision-making.

This role goes beyond month-end reporting; you will shape what happens next with budgeting, forecasting and insightful financial challenge. You’ll take ownership of finance matters on site and influence senior stakeholders across the business.

Qualifications

• Qualified accountant with ACA/ACCA/CIMA.
• Experience as Finance Manager or Finance Business Partner.
• Strong cashflow forecasting and working capital management.
• Experience in small/medium-sized business environments.
• Ability to influence senior stakeholders and lead on-site.

Responsibilities

• Lead cashflow forecasting and working capital management.
• Act as the financial adviser to the leadership team.

What You'll Be Doing

This isn't a role focused solely on reporting what happened last month.

You'll be helping shape what happens next.

Key responsibilities include:

• Leading cashflow forecasting and working capital management
• Acting as the key financial adviser to the leadership team
• Driving budgeting, forecasting and commercial planning
• Providing insight, challenge and recommendations to support decision-making
• Identifying opportunities to improve profitability, efficiency and performance
• Producing meaningful management information and KPI reporting
• Supporting investment decisions, business cases and growth initiatives
• Strengthening financial controls and governance
• Working closely with operational leaders to deliver business objectives
• Taking ownership of finance matters on site and being the go-to person for financial guidance

Who We're Looking For

You're technically strong, commercially curious and ready for broader responsibility.

You enjoy working close to the business, influencing decisions and solving problems.

Most importantly, you're comfortable taking ownership rather than sitting in the background.

You'll succeed if you have:

• A degree and a full accounting qualification (ACA, ACCA or CIMA)
• Experience in a Finance Manager or Finance Business Partner rolelis>
• Strong cashflow forecasting, treasury and working capital management experience
• Experience operating within a small or medium-sized business environment
• The confidence to influence and challenge senior stakeholders
• Excellent commercial acumen and analytical skills
• A hands-on approach and the ability to work autonomously
• The credibility and capability to act as the senior finance lead on site
