Job summary

Coventry Building Society is recruiting a Finance Business Partner to support the Lead in driving efficiency and value through insightful analysis and robust budgeting, forecasting and reporting. You will collaborate with stakeholders, review business cases and help translate financial data into actionable recommendations.

The role requires advanced Excel, strong business partnering, and a collaborative problem‑solving approach; hybrid work with 2 days in Coventry and/or Manchester offices.

Qualifications

• Strong experience of financial planning, budgeting, forecasting, consolidation and monthly reporting.
• Proven business partnering and stakeholder management experience, with the confidence to influence and challenge senior leaders.
• Demonstrable financial modelling, analysis and forecasting skills, with strong attention to detail.
• Gather and interpret financial and non-financial data to drive commercial insight and decision-making.
• Strong communication skills, with the ability to explain complex financial information to both financial and non-financial audiences.
• Advanced Excel skills, excellent organisational ability, and a track record of continuous improvement.

Responsibilities

• Support month-end activities, budgeting, forecasting, financial reporting and analysis.

Job description

The Finance Business Partner will support the Lead Finance Business Partner in driving efficiency and value across the Group, providing insight, challenge and support to stakeholders to ensure resources are used effectively. The role will be responsible for month-end activities, budgeting, forecasting, financial reporting and analysis, identifying risks and opportunities, and supporting decision-making across the business.

Supported by Finance Analysts, the role holder will also contribute to improving processes and controls, review business cases and investment proposals, and provide clear financial insight to both financial and non-financial stakeholders. The Finance Business Partner will have advanced Excel skills, strong business partnering capabilities, and a collaborative approach to solving complex challenges.

We operate on a team led hybrid approach with at least 2 days a week in the Coventry & / or Manchester office

About you

You’ll be a commercially minded finance professional who is passionate about ensuring Finance is a true business enabler that delivers value. Curious by nature, you’ll seek to understand how your role contributes to Finance and the wider Group, proactively identifying opportunities to add value, improve outcomes and support colleagues.

You’ll build strong relationships across the business, engage constructively with stakeholders, and foster a culture of collaboration, innovation, continuous improvement and idea sharing. Using your strong analytical skills, you’ll be able to translate complex financial and non-financial information into clear insight and recommendations, helping to drive effective decision-making and positive business outcomes.

For this role you’ll need to have:

• Strong experience of financial planning, budgeting, forecasting, consolidation and monthly reporting.
• Proven business partnering and stakeholder management experience, with the confidence to influence and challenge senior leaders.
• Demonstrable financial modelling, analysis and forecasting skills, with strong attention to detail.

Experience in these areas would be helpful:

• A recognised accountancy qualification (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent), or be working towards qualification.
• Experience within a financial services organisation.
• Supporting investment budgets, project portfolios or change initiatives.
• Preparing and reviewing business cases, including ROI and benefits analysis.
• Delivering reporting improvements, automation or process enhancements.
• Experience with Workday Financials, Adaptive or similar planning tools.
