Job summary

Confidential in Hoddesdon is seeking a proactive Finance Assistant to support day-to-day accounting activities. The role reports to the Financial Controller and offers exposure to purchase and sales ledgers, reconciliations, and month‑end tasks.

You will help drive process improvements, produce management reports, and assist with year‑end activities in a busy office environment. AAT study would be advantageous and the team values accuracy and collaboration.

Qualifications

• Previous experience within a Finance Assistant, Accounts Assistant or similar role.
• Strong understanding of purchase ledger and sales ledger.
• Experience completing supplier and balance sheet reconciliations.
• Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills.
• Ability to work independently and use initiative.
• Strong communication skills and a collaborative approach.
• Positive, proactive and willing to take ownership of tasks through to completion.

Responsibilities

• Processing sales invoices, including staged and prepayment invoices.
• Managing daily credit control and customer account reconciliations.
• Processing and maintaining Accounts Payable invoices through the ERP system.
• Reconciling supplier accounts and resolving invoice queries.
• Preparing weekly payment runs for review and approval.
• Reviewing aged creditor reports and investigating anomalies.
• Assisting with month-end tasks including accruals, prepayments and journals.
• Supporting year-end accounts preparation and external audits.
• Producing weekly and monthly management reports.
• Maintaining accurate accounting records in line with company controls and procedures.
• Supporting the maintenance of manufactured and purchased part number records.
• Identifying opportunities to improve processes and efficiencies across the finance function.
• Assisting with ad hoc finance duties as required.
