The Finance Assistant will work within the Financial Reporting Team, assisting the team by overseeing a number of key areas including: bank management and processing, monthly reconciliations, credit control and other ad-hoc duties within the team.

About the role:

You will carry out daily banking, posting payments and receipts. This includes assessing bank levels and processing transfers between accounts.

You will carry out monthly bank reconciliations for both the insurance and wellbeing divisions of Westfield. This includes posting and reconciling the General Bank Account for the insurance company and cashbook posting and reconciling the H&W Bank Account for the wellbeing company.

As part of the Westfield Health & Wellbeing entity, you will carry out credit control and upload sales invoices to the sales ledger, whilst also helping to upload some purchase invoices where needed.

You will manage virtual credit card processing and authorisations, collating receipts of payments from virtual credit card users.

You will manage the account mailbox with other staff, answering and dealing with ad-hoc email queries.

Provide cover for the rest of the Financial Reporting team as required on purchase ledger, commissions, processing refunds etc.

Ad hoc month end and quarter end tasks, including reconciliation of claims paid between bank and claims system, posting journals to the general ledger.

Any other duties as reasonable requested.

About you:

Education and Qualifications

  • A-C/4-9 grade in 5 GCSE subjects including Maths & English
  • Part/fully qualified AAT or has a degree in a business/accounting based subject

Experience

  • Bank management and processing experience gained within a finance function, which includes bank reconciliations.
  • Working as part of a team, cooperating and helping others through busy periods and meeting deadlines.
  • Continuous improvement in tasks and processes.
  • Credit control experience would be beneficial.
  • Liaising with other departments and externally.

Skills

  • A positive and flexible working attitude.
  • Confidence in picking up tasks quickly and taking ownership of them.
  • Ability to use initiative when needed.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Confident and competent in using Excel spreadsheets, to help aid completion of working files and the processing of information.
  • Communication skills both internally across all levels of the business and externally, for example with banks or companies chased as part of the credit control.
  • Organisational skills, ensuring tasks are managed effectively and completed in time to meet required deadlines.
