Job description

The role is part of a small central finance team at Francis Holland that supports our three London schools, helping them to thrive and meet their objectives. The two critical aspects of the role are: support for our purchase ledger function and administrating applications for financial support.

Role Overview

We are delighted that you are considering the role of Finance Assistant at Francis Holland Schools. The role involves supporting our purchase ledger function and administering applications for financial support. You will also gain experience in other areas of financial support, including fee billing, debtor management, credit card processing, trip payments, lettings, and other administrative tasks as needed.

Person Specification

The ideal candidate is an enthusiastic, personable, methodical, and diligent individual who can work professionally within a small team. Ideally, you will be working towards an accounting qualification such as AAT. Experience with MS Office, particularly Excel and forms, is desirable. The Trust offers excellent benefits, including study support, free lunches (term time only), and a season ticket loan.

While this is an entry-level role with no prior experience required, we seek someone with a genuine interest and aptitude for school finance. We look forward to welcoming the successful applicant soon.

Key Responsibilities
Alongside the Accounts Executive:
  • Maintaining and updating the purchase ledger
  • Accurately inputting supplier invoices and ensuring correct coding
  • Preparing weekly payment batches for review
  • Resolving invoice and payment issues
  • Reconciling supplier ledgers with statements
  • Issuing invoices for approval and coding
  • Assisting with bank reconciliations
Alongside the Billing Manager & Registrars:
  • Administer applications for financial support
  • Coordinate with school registrars to schedule applications
  • Monitor received applications and follow up with applicants
  • Report on applications to the Billing Manager and Finance Director
  • Notify applicants of outcomes
  • Work with schools and the Billing Manager to record rechargeable costs
  • Provide administrative support for fee billing
As part of the Finance team:
  • Support the finance team and wider Bursary team as needed
  • Assist our schools and communities
