SF Recruitment is assisting a Birmingham-based, growing service business to appoint a Finance & Operations Manager. The role blends finance leadership with operational support, driving structure, visibility and efficiency across the organisation.

You will work closely with the Managing Director as a key second in command, leading improvements to billing, cash collection and working capital while bridging finance with day-to-day operations to deliver measurable commercial impact.

Qualifications

• Experience in finance and operations roles with a commercial finance focus.
• Track record of improving processes and working capital.
• Qualified (ACCA/CIMA/ACA) or qualified by experience; strong business acumen.

Responsabilités

SF Recruitment are recruiting for a Finance & Operations Manager for a well-established, growing service-based business based in Birmingham.

This is a broad and hands-on opportunity for a commercially minded finance professional who enjoys working across both finance and operations and wants to play a key role in shaping how a business operates.

Working closely with the Managing Director, you will act as a key number two within the business, helping to bring greater structure, visibility and efficiency across the organisation. The role will have a strong focus on improving processes, strengthening working capital and ensuring the finance function properly supports the wider operation.

A key part of the position will be reviewing and improving the billing and invoicing process, identifying inefficiencies and putting robust processes in place to improve cash collection and working capital. You will also work closely with operational teams, bridging the gap between finance and the day-to-day running of the business.

This would suit someone who combines strong financial understanding with commercial awareness and a genuine interest in how a business operates. You will need to be comfortable identifying problems, finding practical solutions and then taking ownership of implementing them.

Duties include:

• Responsible for day to day running of Finance and Operations.
• Reviewing and improving billing, invoicing and cash collection processes
• Driving improvements in working capital and cashflow

• Working closely with operational teams to improve the link between finance and the wider business
• Providing commercial insight and analysis to support decision-making
• Preparing management information, budgets, forecasts and financial reporting
• Overseeing core finance processes including purchase ledger, sales ledger and payroll
• Improving systems, processes and reporting to provide greater visibility across the business
• Supporting the development and implementation of new processes as the business continues to grow
• Maintaining strong financial controls and ensuring accurate and timely reporting

The successful candidate is likely to have experience in a finance and operations, commercial finance, transformation or finance improvement environment, with a track record of improving processes and working capital. You may be qualified (ACCA/CIMA/ACA) or qualified by experience, but commercial awareness, problem-solving ability and a hands-on approach are key.
