Job summary

Cornerstone is seeking a Finance Accountant Capex to join our UK office-based finance team. You will deliver accurate Capex accounting, forecasting and reporting, maintaining the fixed asset register and collaborating with stakeholders to ensure budgets align with business goals.

You will own monthly Capex results, assist with year-end audit preparation and help drive process improvements across finance systems. Hybrid working options may be available to support work-life balance.

Qualifications

• Strong financial accounting knowledge and accurate reporting.
• Experience with journal entries, reconciliations and statutory reporting.
• Experience supporting external audits.
• Budgeting, forecasting and variance analysis experience.
• Excellent attention to detail with data handling.
• Strong stakeholder management and communication.
• ERP familiarity (Agresso) and advanced Excel.
• Ability to prioritise and deliver under pressure.

Responsibilities

• Produce accurate monthly Capex results and clear supporting commentary.
• Own month-end accounting activities including journal entries and balance sheet reconciliations.
• Maintain the fixed asset register and ensure accuracy of work in progress and asset retirement obligations.
• Own the Capex financial forecast, engaging stakeholders to develop, present and gain approval for budget submissions and updates.
• Support statutory reporting and external audit preparation, including the preparation of relevant financial information and footnotes.
• Deliver customer billing activities and help ensure financial outputs meet regulatory and contractual standards.
• Provide insightful analysis, highlighting risks, opportunities, variances and key performance commentary.
• Work across departments to ensure financial data is recorded and reported accurately across systems and sources.
• Identify and support improvements to finance processes, systems and reporting.
• Respond to ad hoc finance requests and contribute to continuous improvement across the finance function.

As our Finance Accountant - Capex, you’ll play a key role in delivering accurate and timely accounting, reporting and forecasting for capital expenditure and associated assets. You’ll manage core month-end activities, reconciliations and financial data across multiple systems, while supporting statutory reporting, external audit preparation and customer billing. You’ll also partner with stakeholders across the business, turning financial data into clear analysis, identifying risks and opportunities, and helping ensure budgets, forecasts and reporting align with business objectives.
