Job summary

South East Water UK in the United Kingdom is seeking a Distribution Technician to keep the water flowing and support communities with a reliable supply. This hands-on, field-based role involves responding to supply issues, fixing mains bursts, and assisting customers when plans go awry.

You’ll work a rotating shift, attend customer appointments, carry out water quality tests, and assist with locating meters. The role offers progression and a strong benefits package.

Qualifications

• A valid driving licence.
• Excellent customer service.
• Ability to take initiative and solve problems.
• Confident using IT.
• Water industry qualifications advantageous but not essential.
• Plumbing or water mains knowledge advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Attend customer appointments and carry out allocated work, responding to requests and providing general advice.
• Carry out mains shut, risk assessments, interruption reports and maintenance tasks; liaise with developers for new water supplies.
• Raise contractor requests via IT systems and supervise contractors on the distribution network.
• Investigate leaks, mains bursts and discoloration and propose practical solutions.
• Adhere to Health & Safety regulations and company policy.
• Participate in standby rota for out-of-hours support.
