Field Services Manager - Utility Arboriculture

Location: Chelmsford, Grays & Surrounding Areas

Salary: Competitive

Contract Type: Permanent

Working Hours: 40 hours per week, Monday-Friday

What you’ll do:

At Ground Control, we’re looking for a hands-on, organized, and people-savvy Field Services Manager to oversee vegetation clearance works around powerlines and pylons across Essex.

You’ll be a key part of our Utility Arboriculture team, managing teams of specialist tree workers and ensuring projects are delivered safely, on time, and to high standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Leading field-based projects from start to finish
  • Managing workloads for cutting teams and ensuring efficiency
  • Driving program delivery against KPIs: safety, quality, budget, and client satisfaction
  • Updating work schedules, resolving access issues, and liaising with stakeholders
  • Balancing time between the field and remote work
  • Mentoring junior team members and supporting site audits

What we’re looking for:

  • Experience in field-based projects within utilities, landscaping, environmental, or surveying roles
  • A natural planner and problem solver who thrives outdoors
  • Ability to take full ownership of projects and outcomes
  • Strong communication and organizational skills
  • Ability to work independently and collaborate across teams
  • Valid UK driving licence (essential)

Arboriculture or tree work experience is a bonus but not essential.
