Field Services Manager – Utility Arboriculture

Location: Cambridge & Surrounding Areas

Contract Type: Permanent

Working Hours: 40 hours per week, Monday-Friday

About the Role

Ground Control is looking for a Field Services Manager to join our dynamic Utility Arboriculture division. This role involves managing vegetation clearance projects that support the safety and resilience of the UK’s power infrastructure. You will lead field teams to ensure efficient, high-quality work across your region.

Key Responsibilities
  • Coordinate and manage tree cutting and vegetation clearance works around powerlines.
  • Drive performance and efficiency across field teams, ensuring KPIs are met or exceeded.
  • Plan work programmes, oversee budgets, ensure safety compliance, and maintain quality standards.
  • Support surveyor development and resolve issues related to land access, TPOs, SSSIs, and consent.
  • Manage and mentor junior staff to develop future leaders.
  • Maintain accurate reporting and client communication.
  • Audit works and improve operational practices for safety, environmental, and customer excellence.
Candidate Requirements
  • Experience in field operations, utilities, environmental, or vegetation management.
  • Strong team management and coordination skills.
  • Practical understanding of project planning and budget oversight.
  • Proactive problem-solving skills and ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Proficiency in IT tools for scheduling, reporting, and communication.
  • Full UK driving licence (essential).
  • Experience in tree work, horticulture, or arboriculture is a plus but not essential.
