Field Services Manager - Utility Arboriculture

Location:Chelmsford, Grays & Surrounding Areas

Salary: Competitive

Contract Type: Permanent

Working Hours: 40 hours per week, Monday-Friday

What you’ll do:

At Ground Control, we’re on the lookout for a hands-on, organised, and people-savvy Field Services Manager to drive the delivery of vegetation clearance works around powerlines and pylons across Essex.

You’ll be a key part of our Utility Arboriculture team, helping manage teams of specialist tree workers and ensuring projects are delivered safely, on time, and to the highest quality standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Leading field-based projects from cradle to grave
  • Managing workloads for cutting teams and ensuring efficiency
  • Driving programme delivery against KPIs: safety, quality, budget, and client satisfaction
  • Updating work programmes, resolving access issues, and liaising with stakeholders
  • Balancing time between the field and remote working
  • Mentoring junior team members and supporting site audits

What we’re looking for:

  • Have field-based project experience in utilities, landscaping, environmental, or surveying roles
  • Are a natural planner and problem solver who thrives outdoors
  • Enjoy taking full ownership of projects and outcomes
  • Have strong communication and organisational skills
  • Can work independently but collaborate effectively across teams
  • Hold a valid UK driving licence (essential)

Arboriculture or tree work experience is a bonus—but not essential.
