Job summary

Nidec Drives is seeking a Field Service Engineer to install, configure and service our range of drives across the UK and Ireland. You will work on-site with customers, providing hands-on technical support and remote assistance as needed.

The role demands strong problem-solving abilities, excellent communication, and the ability to travel to customer sites across the UK and Ireland. A proactive attitude and safety awareness are essential for success.

Qualifications

• Proven experience with variable speed drives and servo environments.
• Experience working with low voltage rotating machinery (up to 690 VAC).
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent communication and customer service skills.
• Ability to work independently.

Responsibilities

• Install, configure and troubleshoot drives on-site or remotely.
• Respond to customer inquiries with technical support via phone, email, or in-person.
• Perform regular maintenance and upgrades on our products.
• Collaborate with sales and engineering teams to resolve issues.
• Create and maintain technical documentation and service manuals.

Role Summary:

We have an exciting opportunity for an individual to join Nidec Drives as Field Service Engineer, who will be responsible for providing comprehensive technical support to our clients and ensuring that our products are running efficiently.

This role requires excellent communication and problem-solving skills, as well as a deep understanding of technology and company products.

Key Job Responsibilities:

The responsibilities of the Field Service Engineer consist of but are not limited to:

• To Install, configure, and troubleshoot our range of drives products on-site or remotely
• Respond to customer inquiries and provide technical support via phone, e‑mail, or in‑person
• Perform regular maintenance and upgrades on our products
• Collaborate with sales and engineering teams to identify and resolve customer issues
• Create and maintain technical documentation and service manuals

Travel Requirements:

Required to travel as and when needed across the whole of the UK and Ireland.

Qualifications & Experience Requirements:

• Proven experience within a related variable speed drives and servo environment
• Experience working with Low voltage rotating machinery (up to 690 VAC)
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Excellent communication and customer service skills
• Ability to work independently

Employees must be able to:

• Understand emergency instruction
• Read safety signage and hazard warnings
• Communicate effectively in specific situations (e.g. fire evacuation)
