Job summary

PPM Recruitment is seeking a Field Service Engineer to perform planned and reactive maintenance, commissioning and refurbishment of sewage and water systems. You\'ll work on site with customers, ensuring systems operate safely and in line with industry standards across the Southwest.

You\'ll install, maintain and fault‑find on pumping stations and treatment plants, carry out electrical diagnostics, document actions clearly for clients, and travel with occasional overnight stays.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of wastewater products, including sewage treatment systems and pump stations.
• Strong understanding of pumps, motors, pipework, valves and mechanical systems.
• Basic electrical skills, including fault finding.
• Previous experience in a similar Service Engineer role (water industry preferred, but mechanical/electrical backgrounds also considered).
• Valid UK driving licence.

Responsibilities

• Installing, maintaining and fault‑finding on sewage treatment systems and pump stations.
• Working with pumps, motors, valves, pipework and associated mechanical components.
• Carrying out basic electrical diagnostics and fault finding.
• Conducting system checks including field tests, smoke testing and sampling.
• Providing clear, timely updates to clients.
• Completing all documentation to a high standard.
• Travelling across the Southwest, including occasional overnight stays (typically around five nights per quarter).
• Systems you may work on: Pumping stations, sewage treatment plants, septic tanks, potable water systems, rainwater harvesting units and related equipment.
