Job summary

Hitachi Energy is seeking a Field Service Engineer (Mechanical) to join our Transformers business in the UK. You will support the service strategy, deliver high-quality service offerings and assist with large transformers on customer sites across the UK.

The role is highly mobile, field-based with extensive travel, overnight stays, and occasional weekend work as part of project requirements. You will work within a team of engineers to ensure safety, quality and customer satisfaction.

Qualifications

• Mechanical or Electrical engineering qualification or equivalent (Apprenticeship, NVQ, HNC/HND, etc).
• Experience with installation, assembly, commissioning or maintenance of large industrial equipment.
• Experience with mechanical installations, pipework, cooling systems or similar asset refurbishment advantageous.
• Ability to read mechanical and electrical drawings and procedures.
• Full UK driving licence.
• Site safety qualifications such as IPAF, PASMA, CCNSG, CSCS or equivalent are beneficial, though training will be provided.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate service activities on customer sites with a strong focus on safety, quality, schedules and customer satisfaction.
• Support installation, assembly and commissioning of transformers and associated equipment.
• Undertake refurbishment, routine maintenance, inspections and component replacements.
• Carry out oil handling, oil processing, oil filtration and sampling per approved procedures.
• Assist with mechanical checks, inspections, leak detection, pressure testing and functional testing.
• Lead site activities from start to finish under the Project Manager's direction.
• Maintain site documentation, quality records and service reports, providing feedback for continuous improvement.
