Job summary

Hitachi Energy UK Limited is seeking a Field Service Engineer (Mechanical) to deliver installation, commissioning and maintenance of large transformers across the UK. The role is highly mobile and field-based with extensive travel and overnight stays.

You will join a team of engineers and technicians, ensuring safety, quality and customer satisfaction while developing specialist mechanical knowledge in the power industry. A full UK driving licence is required.

Qualifications

• Mechanical or electrical engineering qualification required or equivalent
• Experience in installation, assembly, commissioning and maintenance of large industrial equipment
• Experience with mechanical installations, pipework, cooling systems and lifting operations is advantageous
• Ability to read mechanical and electrical drawings and procedures
• Site leadership or coordination experience is desirable
• UK driving licence held and valid safety certifications are beneficial

Responsibilities

• Coordinate service activities on customer sites with focus on safety, quality and schedules
• Support installation, assembly and commissioning of large power transformers and equipment
• Undertake refurbishment, maintenance, inspection and component replacements
• Perform oil handling, processing, filtration and sampling per procedures
• Assist with mechanical checks, tests and documentation to ensure equipment operates correctly
• Lead site activities from start to finish under Project Manager guidance
• Maintain site records, checklists and service reports for quality and feedback
• Develop relationships with customers and identify potential service opportunities
