Job summary

Hernshead Recruitment Ltd is seeking a Service Engineer to support safe, reliable operation of critical electrical power distribution and building control systems. The role covers planned and reactive maintenance, inspection, testing, fault-finding, commissioning and optimisation across LV/HV switchgear, power monitoring, BMS, HVAC controls and SCADA interfaces.

Qualifications

• Strong engineering background in electrical power systems and BMS/building automation.
• Hands-on experience with LV/HV switchgear and power distribution equipment.
• Ability to safely carry out fault-finding, maintenance, testing and diagnostics.
• Knowledge of electrical drawings, single-line diagrams and control schematics.
• Qualifications such as NVQ Level 3, City & Guilds, HNC or equivalent preferred.
• HV authorisation or progress towards HV competency is advantageous.
• CSCS or equivalent and a clean driving licence.

Responsibilities

• Carry out planned and reactive maintenance, inspection and fault-finding on LV/HV switchgear and distribution equipment.
• Support commissioning of new or modified systems, including testing and verification.
• Assist with interfaces between electrical equipment, BMS and SCADA platforms.
• Analyse system performance to improve reliability, energy efficiency.
• Interpret electrical drawings and schematics to support maintenance and fault-finding.
• Provide remote and on-site technical support to clients and site teams.
• Produce service reports and documentation of configuration changes.
