Job description

Field Service Engineer – Telecommunications

About the role

We are looking for knowledgeable and customer-focused Wi-Fi Engineers to join our team. As a Wi-Fi Engineer, you will be responsible for the installation, configuration, maintenance, and troubleshooting of Wi-Fi networks for residential customers. You will ensure that customers receive robust and reliable wireless connectivity.

You will check everything from the dishwasher in the kitchen to the Xbox in the man cave, focusing on dBm levels rather than how many bars show up on a phone. Most importantly, you will strive to leave every job with a 5-star Trustpilot review.

Who we are

We’re brsk. We’re customer obsessed and proud, but don’t just take our word for it. We’ve got a score of 4.7 on trust pilot with our customers showing you just how we go the extra mile.

We’re a UK-based, award-winning full fibre broadband provider who are rolling out up to 2 gigabit per second broadband to homes across the UK. We have quickly become one of the fastest-growing alternative networks (Altnets) in the UK, already reaching over 950,000 homes.

What sets us apart? Our people do. Each team member has a voice and contributes to building our company. Our recent employee engagement scores are as high as 88%, indicating that our teams feel connected and empowered.

What you’ll do:

  • Installation and Setup: Install and configure Wi-Fi networks, including routers, extenders and other related equipment.
  • Troubleshooting: Diagnose and resolve issues related to Wi-Fi connectivity and performance.
  • Network Optimisation: Optimise Wi-Fi networks for performance, including channel selection, signal strength adjustments, and interference management.
  • Customer Support: Provide excellent customer service by addressing customer concerns and explaining technical information in an understandable manner.
  • Site Surveys: Conduct on-site surveys to assess signal coverage, identify potential interference sources, and recommend appropriate solutions.
  • Maintenance: Perform routine maintenance and firmware updates on Wi-Fi equipment to ensure optimal performance and security.
  • Product Delivery: Install/Upsell our amazing packages including our 8GB service with the latest ASUS gaming routers.
  • Run Cat 6 Ethernet cable for relocating routers or to hardwire a customer’s specific device.

What you’ll bring

  • Technical Expertise: Strong understanding of Wi-Fi technology, including standards (e.g., 802.11ac, 802.11ax), encryption methods, and networking principles.
  • Experience: Previous experience as a Wi-Fi technician or in a similar role. Hands-on experience with installation, configuration, and troubleshooting of Wi-Fi networks is highly desirable.
  • Customer Service Skills: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical customers.
  • Problem-Solving Abilities: Strong analytical skills to identify and resolve technical issues effectively.
  • Education: Technical certifications or training in networking or telecommunications are preferred.
  • Ethernet Cables: Know the colour code of an ethernet cable and be able to make one on request at customer properties.

If you are passionate about wireless technology and enjoy working directly with customers to solve technical issues, we encourage you to apply for the Field Service Engineer position.
