Job Description Summary Impact Handling are actively recruiting for a field service engineer to work within a busy area, you will report into your local service manager and will ideally have experience working with materials handling equipment or similar. You will be responsible for accurately diagnosing faults with machinery, servicing and emergency repairs. A typical day will consist of working on both customer and Impact Handling owned machines to ensure they are in full working order. You will be expected to work independently in a safe manner on customer sites, you will need to be able to communicate well with customers and internal colleagues and will need to be able to ensure all relevant documentation is completed correctly.

JOB PURPOSE

Based on the activities assigned to carry out work (repairs, maintenance, etc.) on equipment and installations.

SIGNIFICANT ACTIVITIES
  • Carry out routine or complex diagnostics in collaboration with assistance technique
  • Draw up lists of parts needed to complete the work
  • Prepare work (parts, consumables, tools, etc.)
  • Recommend repair solutions to customers (replacement, repair, etc.) and formalize the offer, where appropriate, (information, quotation, etc.) with internal and external stakeholders (sales teams, customers, etc.)
  • Perform a risk analysis prior to intervention
  • Carry out preventive and corrective maintenance on equipment (overhauls, repairs, etc.) based on maintenance plans and operating procedures
  • Ensure that equipment is in good working order after intervention
  • Understand and use technical documentation (manuals, etc.)
  • Perform simple commissioning of equipment
  • Determine the qualification of repair orders (billable, warranty, contract, etc.)
  • Parameterize and calibrate hardware based on customer application
  • Indicate opportunities for additional interventions in the business tool
  • Complete the various business documents and tools relating to operations (reports, hours worked, logbooks, etc.)
  • Report daily on activities to line management (alerts, tasks carried out, etc.)
  • Occasionally provide back-up on another perimeter (geographical, sector, activity, etc.)
RESPONSIBILITIES AND SCOPE FOR ACTION
  • Ensure the quality and timeliness of roaming operations
  • Ensure compliance of workstations and tools (vehicle, tools, etc.)
  • Know and strictly apply health and safety rules (personal protective equipment, procedures, working alone, etc.)
  • Know and strictly apply the rules of the customer's risk prevention plan
  • Know and strictly apply environmental rules (sorting, anti-contamination, etc.)
  • Know and apply internal and external compliance procedures and rules
  • Respect standard times
  • Perform on-call duties as required
SPECIFIC KNOWLEDGE(S)
  • In-depth professional knowledge in the technical field (mechanical, electrical, electrical engineering, hydraulics, etc.)
  • Professional knowledge of products (ranges, functionalities, etc.)
  • General knowledge of health, safety and environmental regulations
  • Basic knowledge of IT tools and information systems
