JCB FIELD SERVICE ENGINEER

The ideal candidate will have experience servicing plant equipment within industrial and/or construction applications, and possess a full clean driving licence. A good working knowledge of hydraulics, engines, electrics, and fault diagnosis is essential, with main dealer experience being a distinct advantage.

BASED AT OUR HULL DEPOT

Hull, officially Kingston upon Hull, is a port city in the East Riding of Yorkshire with a rich wartime history. The TC Harrison JCB Hull depot sells a variety of JCB parts and has access to TCH JCB group stock. The depot is conveniently located off the A63, with easy access to the M180 and M62 motorways.

MAIN PURPOSE OF JOB

• Diagnose faults, repair and test equipment, and record work done. Report any faults that cannot be corrected.
• A degree of flexibility is required, as there may be a need to work outside normal hours.

INDIVIDUAL KEY OBJECTIVES

• Receive electronic (written and verbal) instructions via a handheld PDA during breakdowns.
• Undertake comprehensive risk assessments and ensure safe working practices.
• Diagnose faults and consult with Supervisor/Manager for instructions on repairs.
• Complete all work within specified time frames.
• Maintain high standards of quality.
• Identify additional work needs and liaise with Supervisor/Manager before proceeding.
• Obtain full authority before undertaking extra work.

DETAILED RESPONSIBILITIES

• Maintain safety standards at all times.
• Handle customer’s property with care.
• Care for TCH company property.
• Procure necessary parts from stores.
• Carry out repairs and testing promptly.
• Complete and sign off job cards accurately, providing detailed descriptions of work performed.
• Maintain acceptable discipline levels.
• Inform supervisor if completion times cannot be met.
• Discuss vehicle concerns directly with customers when necessary.
• Strive to meet minimum customer satisfaction standards set by management.
