Job summary

Jobtailor is seeking an experienced field technician to service, maintain and repair Volvo Construction Equipment in Stirling and surrounding areas. You will diagnose mechanical, hydraulic and electrical faults with dedicated diagnostic tools and communicate findings clearly to customers and colleagues.

You will also install software updates and manage parts, keeping accurate timesheets and records. The role requires a formal engineering qualification, a proven track record with heavy plant, and

Qualifications

• Formal engineering qualification in Plant Maintenance or related discipline.
• Proven experience repairing heavy construction plant and agricultural equipment.
• Strong diagnostic and fault-finding across diesel engines, transmissions, hydraulics and electrical systems.
• Good communication skills and ability to build relationships with customers and colleagues.
• Full UK driving licence.

Responsibilities

• Attend product and systems training to maintain technical competence.
• Ensure all work is completed safely and in accordance with standards.

Job description

• Service, maintain and repair Volvo Construction Equipment and associated machinery.
• Diagnose and resolve mechanical, hydraulic and electrical faults using technical expertise and diagnostic equipment.
• Identify additional service and repair opportunities and discuss these with customers and internal teams.
• Carry out all work in line with quotations and time guides, highlighting where additional work may be required.
• Install software updates and system enhancements when released.
• Complete electronic job cards, reports and timesheets accurately and in real time.
• Order and manage parts required for repairs and return parts promptly upon job completion.
• Support call-out and overtime requirements where required.
• Attend product and systems training to maintain technical competence and product knowledge.
• Ensure all work is completed safely and in accordance with company and manufacturer standards.

Requirements

• A formal engineering qualification in Plant Maintenance, Agricultural Engineering, HGV Mechanics or a related discipline (NVQ Level 3, City & Guilds or equivalent).
• Proven experience repairing and maintaining heavy construction plant, agricultural machinery, HGVs or similar equipment.
• Strong diagnostic and fault-finding skills across diesel engines, transmissions, drivetrains, hydraulics and electrical systems.
• Excellent problem-solving abilities and a methodical approach to fault diagnosis.
• Good communication skills and the ability to build relationships with customers and colleagues.
• Strong IT skills and confidence using digital reporting systems.
• A commercially aware mindset with a focus on delivering excellent customer service.
• High levels of attention to detail and a professional approach to work.
• A full UK driving licence.
• Desirable Welding and fabrication experience.
• Previous experience working with Volvo Construction Equipment or similar heavy plant machinery.

Demonstrates expertise in servicing, maintaining and repairing heavy construction equipment, with strong diagnostic skills in mechanical, hydraulic and electrical systems. Possesses a formal engineering qualification and a commitment to delivering excellent customer service while adhering to safety and quality standards.
