Job summary

Avtron is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer for our site in Easton on the Hill near Stamford. The role balances shop-floor engineering with Lean discipline to improve processes, reduce waste and drive sustained gains.

You will lead Lean activities, coach teams and manage high-visibility projects, working with the Lean Manager and senior leadership to deliver measurable results.

Qualifications

• Experience in manufacturing engineering with Lean and continuous improvement.
• Strong problem solving, root cause analysis and data-driven decisions.
• Ability to lead cross-functional teams and projects to measurable results.
• Experience with Kaizen, 5S, process mapping and standard work.
• Excellent communication skills for shop floor and leadership.

Responsibilities

The Role:

We are looking for a highly motivated Manufacturing Engineer with a strong Lean and Continuous Improvement focus to drive operational excellence across our manufacturing facility.

This is a hands‑on role that combines traditional manufacturing engineering with Lean expertise. You will play a key role in improving manufacturing processes, eliminating waste, increasing productivity and delivering sustainable improvements across the business.

Around 60–70% of your time will be focused on Lean and continuous improvement activities, including leading Kaizen events, coaching production teams, developing standard work and improving operational flow. You will also take ownership of high‑visibility cost‑saving projects, presenting project progress and results to the Lean Manager and C‑suite leadership during quarterly business reviews.

The remaining time will focus on core manufacturing engineering activities, including process improvement, equipment and layout optimisation, manufacturing documentation and supporting Operations and Quality in resolving process and performance issues.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead Lean and continuous improvement activities, including Kaizen events, A3 problem solving, 5S, process mapping and waste elimination across manufacturing.
• Identify and deliver measurable improvements in productivity, quality, cost, cycle time, material usage and operational flow.
• Lead manufacturing engineering projects covering process improvement, equipment upgrades, layout optimisation, standard work and manufacturing documentation.
• Coach and collaborate with operators, team leaders and cross‑functional teams to embed Lean principles and sustain improvements.
• Own high‑visibility cost‑saving projects, tracking validated savings and presenting progress and results to the Lean Manager and C‑suite leadership.

Job Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree in Manufacturing, Industrial, Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.
• Proven experience in manufacturing engineering, Lean Manufacturing and/or continuous improvement within a production environment.
• Strong problem‑solving and analytical skills, with experience in root cause analysis, process mapping, time studies and standard work.
• Demonstrated ability to lead improvement projects, influence cross‑functional teams and deliver measurable operational or financial results.
• Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the confidence to engage with shop floor teams and senior leadership.
