Job summary

Orion Electrotech is seeking a Field Service Engineer to service and maintain specialist testing equipment across the UK. You will work from home with regular workshop time in Milton Keynes and travel to customer sites for inspections, repairs, fault-finding and commissioning activities.

The role offers training, development, and a long-term career path within a respected engineering business. A UK driving licence and willingness to travel nationwide are required.

Qualifications

• Essential: road-based field service experience.
• Experience with hydraulic systems.
• Ability to diagnose and repair mechanical faults.
• Basic electrical knowledge and fault-finding capability.

Responsibilities

• Carry out planned maintenance and reactive repairs on customer equipment.
• Diagnose and resolve mechanical and hydraulic faults.
• Undertake equipment inspections, servicing and performance checks.
• Support commissioning and installation activities at customer sites.
• Complete service documentation and technical reports.
• Carry out fault-finding on basic electrical systems and control components.
• Replace electrical components, including circuit boards and associated hardware.
• Support workshop-based servicing, testing and equipment preparation activities.

The Role – Field Service Engineer

As a Field Service Engineer, you will be responsible for servicing, maintaining, testing, and supporting a range of specialist equipment.

Working from home, the workshop and travelling across the UK, you will attend customer sites to carry out inspections, repairs, fault finding, commissioning activities, and preventative maintenance.

Requirements

Essential

• Previous experience working on the road
• Experience working with hydraulic systems
• Ability to diagnose and repair mechanical faults
• Basic electrical knowledge and fault-finding capability
• Comfortable replacing electrical components such as circuit boards
• Full UK driving licence
• Willingness to travel throughout the UK with occasional overnight stays

• Calibration experience
• Equipment testing experience
• Experience working within highly regulated industries
• Knowledge of civil engineering, construction, laboratory, or materials testing equipment
