Job summary

Gi Group UK is seeking a Field Service Engineer to join an established UK manufacturer of industrial dry-steam cleaning equipment. Based from Cheltenham, Gloucestershire, the role involves regular customer site work with occasional travel across the UK.

You will service, repair and support equipment at the workshop and on client sites. Responsibilities include installation support, training for new equipment, quotations, service reports and maintaining logs, plus providing technical backup for

• 2 years’ experience in a technical service role repairing/servicing electrical equipment or machinery, including 3-phase.

Job description

An established UK manufacturer and supplier of high-quality industrial dry-steam cleaning equipment is looking to hire a Field Service Engineer to support continued growth following a recent acquisition by a global parent company. This is a hands‑on role based from Cheltenham, Gloucestershire, with regular customer site work and occasional travel.

If you enjoy fault‑finding, repairs and customer‑facing engineering work, and want to develop your skills alongside experienced technical specialists, this could be a great fit.

The Role

Working a 37‑hour week, you’ll be responsible for servicing, repairing and supporting specialist industrial equipment both at the workshop and on customer sites.

Key responsibilities:

• Service and repair customer equipment at the Cheltenham premises
• Attend customer sites to carry out on‑site servicing and repairs
• Provide installation support and training for new equipment
• Produce quotations, issue service reports, and maintain accurate work logs
• Act as a technical support backup for other engineers and end users, working closely with the wider team

Additional requirements:

• Carry out other reasonable tasks aligned to the role
• Very occasional travel to mainland Europe may be required

What We’re Looking For

• Minimum 2 years’ experience in a technical service role repairing/servicing electrical equipment or machinery (including 3‑phase)
• Strong mechanical aptitude and practical engineering experience
• Detail‑oriented with a problem‑solving mindset
• Confident working independently and as part of a team
• Good communication and customer service skills with the ability to understand user needs
• Competent IT skills (ideally Word, Excel, Outlook)
• Full clean UK driving licence
• Passport
• Right to work in the UK
• Shared use of company van
• 25 days holiday, rising to 28 days with long service

Location

• Gloucestershire (Cheltenham HQ) with frequent field‑based work (UK‑wide, as required)
