Job summary

Holt JCB Ltd in Exeter is seeking a skilled service technician to service, repair and maintain JCB and other plant equipment at our on-site workshop and customer sites.

You will diagnose electrical, hydraulic and powertrain faults, use Service Master diagnostic software, order parts and work with the service team to ensure safety and timely completion. A full driving licence is required.

Qualifications

• City and Guild/NVQ Level 3 or equivalent qualification.
• Good IT skills and ability to use diagnostic software.
• Able to communicate clearly with customers and colleagues.
• Full driving licence required.

Responsibilities

• Service, repair and maintain JCB and other plant equipment to manufacturer specs.
• Report defects and upsell services where appropriate.
• Diagnose and rectify electrical, hydraulic, powertrain and other faults.
• Use Service Master diagnostic software (training provided).
• Prepare detailed work reports with photos and times in the system.
• Perform risk assessments and uphold health and safety.
• Order parts and collaborate with service and management teams.
• Carry out any other duties as required.

Key Duties And Responsibilities

• Service, repair and maintain JCB and other plant equipment to the manufactures specifications and to ensure machine reliability and safety.
• Have a keen eye for detail, reporting machine defects and upselling the services provided by HOLT JCB wherever possible. This also comes with financial benefit for the candidate for all opportunities created.
• Successfully diagnose and rectify electrical, hydraulic, powertrain and various other faults prior to initiating and completing a repair.
• Operate JCB's 'Service Master' diagnostic software via a laptop computer (training will be given)
• Complete a detailed report of work completed along with supporting photographs and all allocated times via HOLT JCB's in house Service Manager personal tablet system.
• Complete risk assessments in line with company health and safety policy and ensure safe working practices are in place at all times.
• Accurately ordering parts with the parts department
• Working closely with the service department and management team
• Any other duties as deemed necessary to fulfil the role

The Ideal Candidate Will Have

• Relevant experience and qualifications e.g. City and Guild, NVQ Level 3 qualifications or equivalent to or greater than
• Experience in construction plant, diesel engines, electrics, hydraulics, transmissions, and fault finding using electronic diagnostic equipment
• Good IT Skills
• Experience - knowledge and experience of a variety of machinery ideally in the construction or agricultural industry.
• Relationship Builder - Ability to interact with customers and develop/build a relationship that ultimately delivers a positively satisfying experience.
• Communication - Ability to deliver appropriate communication both internally and externally to allow planning and continued work to be effectively completed.
• Time Management - Ability to set timescales to own tasks to enable completion of duties and to ensure all tasks are carried out with a level of urgency and within a timely manner, whilst not compromising safety.
• Presentation - Present a professional image at all times.
• Must carry a full driving licence as well have the ability to operate machinery on site for testing purposes (training can be given to the right candidate)
