Job summary

Scot JCB in Edinburgh is seeking a skilled Service Engineer to join our team. You will visit customer sites across the area to carry out maintenance, repairs and servicing on our customers’ machines to a high standard.

The role offers a 39-hour basic week with overtime rates and the chance to earn via our appraisal program. A competitive hourly rate is paid, with a comprehensive benefits package including a company van, laptop, phone and health plan.

Qualifications

• Relevant qualifications e.g. City and Guilds, NVQ or SVQ in Construction Plant / HGV / Light Vehicle, essential.
• Experience in construction plant, diesel engines, electrics, hydraulics, transmissions, and fault finding using electronic diagnostic equipment.
• Good IT skills and ability to document work clearly.

Responsibilities

• Repairing and maintaining machines on customer sites to manufacturer specs.
• Attending breakdowns and fault finding on machines.
• Accurately completing paperwork and timesheets daily.
• Ordering parts and coordinating with the parts department.
• Working with the service supervisor and mentoring apprentices.

This is a Permanent, Full Time vacancy that will close in a month at 23:59 BST.

We are looking for a skilled engineer to join our team in Edinburgh. As a Service Engineer with Scot JCB you will visit a variety of customer sites throughout the area to carry out maintenance, repairs and services on our customers machines to a high standard.

Key Duties And Responsibilities

• Repairing and maintaining machines on customers sites as required to ensure conformance with manufacturer’s specification
• Attending breakdowns and fault finding on machines
• Accurately completing all relevant paperwork daily
• Submitting daily timesheets and job cards
• Accurately ordering your parts and working closely with the parts department
• Working closely with the service supervisor
• Helping to train and mentor apprentice engineers
• Carrying out inspections and repairs of machines at our depot as required - in conformance with manufacturer’s specification and any regulations affecting their use
• Ensuring that there is no deficiency or defect likely to affect the safe working of a machine – and notifying appropriate manager of any defective or unsafe equipment

The Ideal Candidate Will Have

• Relevant qualifications e.g. City and Guild, NVQ or SVQ in Construction Plant / HGV / Light Vehicle etc (essential)Experience in construction plant, diesel engines, electrics, hydraulics, transmissions, and fault finding using electronic diagnostic equipment
• The ability to prioritise tasks and work well in a busy environment
• Great customer service skills and the ability to build rapport with our customers
• Good IT skills
• A flexible and positive outlook with an outgoing approach to work
