Job summary

Scot JCB is seeking a skilled Service Engineer to join our Newcastle team. You will visit customer sites across the area to service and repair machines to a high standard, with a view to developing your engineering expertise in a varied role.

The position offers a competitive hourly rate with overtime and bonus potential, along with a comprehensive benefits package and a 39-hour basic week. You will be part of a long-established JCB distributor network across the UK.

Qualifications

• Qualifications in Construction Plant / HGV / Light Vehicle (essential)
• Experience in construction plant, diesel engines, electrics, hydraulics, transmissions, and fault finding using electronic diagnostic equipment

Responsibilities

• Repairing and maintaining machines on customers sites to conform with manufacturer’s specification
• Attending breakdowns and fault finding on machines
• Accurately completing all relevant paperwork daily
• Submitting daily timesheets and job cards
• Accurately ordering parts and coordinating with the parts department
• Working closely with the service supervisor
• Mentoring apprentice engineers
• Carrying out depot inspections and repairs as required
• Ensuring safety and reporting any defective or unsafe equipment

We are looking for a skilled engineer to join our team in Newcastle. As a Service Engineer with Scot JCB you will visit a variety of customer sites throughout the area to carry out maintenance, repairs and services on our customers machines to a high standard.

Who are we?

The Scot JCB Group is made up of Scot JCB, Scot Agri and Stewart Plant Sales. Scot JCB has been supplying and servicing JCB machinery throughout Scotland and the North of England for over 60 years. Key Duties And Responsibilities

• Repairing and maintaining machines on customers sites as required to ensure conformance with manufacturer’s specification
• Attending breakdowns and fault finding on machines
• Accurately completing all relevant paperwork daily
• Submitting daily timesheets and job cards
• Accurately ordering your parts and working closely with the parts department
• Working closely with the service supervisor
• Helping to train and mentor apprentice engineers
• Carrying out inspections and repairs of machines at our depot as required - in conformance with manufacturer’s specification and any regulations affecting their use
• Ensuring that there is no deficiency or defect likely to affect the safe working of a machine – and notifying appropriate manager of any defective or unsafe equipment

The Ideal Candidate Will Have

• Relevant qualifications e.g. City and Guild, NVQ or SVQ in Construction Plant / HGV / Light Vehicle etc (essential)Experience in construction plant, diesel engines, electrics, hydraulics, transmissions, and fault finding using electronic diagnostic equipment
• The ability to prioritise tasks and work well in a busy environment
• Great customer service skills and the ability to build rapport with our customers
• Good IT skills
• A flexible and positive outlook with an outgoing approach to work
