Job summary

Plan B Midlands Limited in South Wales is seeking an experienced Automatic Door Engineer to cover Cardiff and Swansea. You’ll service, maintain and repair sliding, swing and revolving doors at client sites, with a strong focus on electrical fault-finding and safety compliance.

This role is ideal for engineers with automatic door experience or a background in PPM/Field Service or electrical maintenance, who enjoy structured training, long-term stability and clear progression within a global

Qualifications

• Experience with automatic doors or related maintenance backgrounds.
• Full UK driving licence is required.
• Able to work independently across customer sites and manage priorities.

Responsibilities

• Service, maintenance and repairs on sliding, swing and revolving automatic doors.
• Carry out electrical checks on sensors, controls and diagnostics.
• Ensure BS EN 16005 safety compliance and documentation.
• Provide fast first-time fixes and breakdown response.
• Assist with installations and commissioning when required.

We’re hiring an Automatic Door Engineer to join our South Wales team, covering Cardiff and Swansea. This role suits experienced Automatic Door Engineers and engineers from PPM, Field Service, or electrical maintenance backgrounds looking to move into the automatic door industry. You’ll be part of a global entrance solutions provider delivering high‑performance automatic doors and access systems across retail, healthcare, transport and commercial sites.

Role Overview

You’ll carry out service, maintenance and repairs on sliding, swing and revolving automatic doors across the Cardiff and Swansea region. This role is ideal for an engineer with strong electrical fault‑finding skills who wants structured training, long‑term stability and clear progression.

Key Duties

• Automatic door servicing — sliding, swing and revolving systems
• Electrical checks — sensors, controls, diagnostics
• BS EN 16005 compliance — safety checks and documentation
• Breakdown response — delivering first‑time fixes
• Installations and commissioning

Ideal Candidate

• Automatic Door experience OR PPM / Field Service / electrical maintenance background
• Full UK driving licence + relevant operating licences
• Confident working independently across customer sites
• Positive, reliable and customer‑focused approach

Salary & Benefits

• Experienced Automatic Door Engineer: up to £40,400
• PPM / Field Service (entry level): up to £34,000
• £200 weekly on‑call premium (£2,400 per year)
