Job summary

JBT Marel is seeking a skilled Field Service Engineer to join our growing Service team at our Adlington site near Macclesfield. You will install and commission Proseal machinery at customer sites across the region, ensure safe operation before handover and support upgrades.

You’ll provide on-site and remote technical support, carry out preventative maintenance, diagnose faults, and train customer teams. A recognised electrical/mechatronic qualification and full UK driving licence are essential,

Qualifications

• Recognised apprenticeship or qualification in Electrical or Mechatronic Engineering.
• Experience working with automated machinery in manufacturing or food production.
• Strong electrical fault-finding and diagnostic skills.
• Excellent communication and customer service skills.

Responsibilities

Your Role

We are looking for a skilled and customer-focused Field Service Engineer to join our growing Service team.

Adlington, Macclesfield, Cheshire, UK

What You’ll Be Doing

Installation & Commissioning

• Install and commission Proseal machinery at customer sites across your region
• Ensure equipment is operating safely and efficiently prior to handover
• Support machine upgrades and modifications where required

Service & Maintenance

• Carry out planned preventative maintenance to maximise machine reliability and uptime
• Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair electrical and mechanical faults quickly and effectively
• Provide both on-site and remote technical support to customers

Customer Support & Training

• Deliver operator and maintenance training to customer teams
• Build strong relationships with customers through professional and responsive service
• Ensure customer issues are resolved quickly and effectively

Business Support

• Identify opportunities for spare parts sales, service agreements, and equipment upgrades
• Complete service documentation and reports accurately
• Ensure all work is carried out in line with company procedures and Health & Safety standards

Essential

• Recognised apprenticeship or qualification in Electrical or Mechatronic Engineering (NVQ Level 3, HNC/HND, or equivalent)
• Experience working with automated machinery, ideally within a manufacturing or food production environment
• Strong electrical fault-finding and diagnostic skills
• Mechanical fault-finding experience and understanding of machinery systems
• Excellent communication and customer service skills
• Good IT skills, including Microsoft Office applications
• Full UK Driving Licence
• Valid passport and willingness to travel when required
• Strong understanding of Health & Safety requirements

Desirable

• Experience within the food processing or packaging industry
• Previous field service, commissioning, or maintenance engineering experience
• Experience delivering customer training and technical support
