Job summary

National Grid Electricity Distribution in the UK seeks a Field Operations Manager based at the Alfreton depot (Chesterfield & Mansfield area). You will lead a distribution network up to 33kV, planning and executing work while maintaining strong customer relationships.

The role requires hands-on leadership, depot-based work, and regular travel within the area. You will live within 45 minutes of the Alfreton depot and support safety, efficiency and continuous improvement across the network.

Qualifications

• Proven leadership across multi-disciplinary teams and environments.
• Customer-centric approach delivering cost-effective solutions.
• Ability to manage budgets and regulatory incentives.
• Stakeholders across internal teams and external bodies.
• Plan and oversee projects from start to finish with continuous improvement.
• Identify and manage risks with collaborative problem solving.
• Experience with suppliers and contractors to ensure delivery and quality.
• Ensure data accuracy and compliance with policies and procedures.
• Operate safely under safety management systems and standards.
• IOSH or equivalent safety qualification within 12 months.

Responsibilities

• Ensure safety, health, environment and wellbeing of your team and customers.
• Lead a large multi-skilled team with ~40 direct/indirect reports.
• Deliver work programmes within a Capex/Opex budget up to £10m annually.
• Achieve KPIs and deliver exceptional customer service.
• Respond rapidly to fault-related demands to maintain supply.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to create annual work programmes.
• Monitor and reinforce the distribution network for customers.
• Build a succession pipeline for yourself and reports.
• Engage with customers and local councils in your area.
• Understand Ofgem requirements including financing and margins.
