Job summary

Schindler Ltd (UK) seeks a Field Manager to lead installation engineers across London and the South, overseeing lift installation projects from planning through completion. You will ensure safety, on-time delivery and high quality while developing the team and fostering strong customer relationships.

The role requires prior lift installation leadership, knowledge of industry standards, and excellent people management skills; a full UK driving licence is essential.

Qualifications

  • NVQ, HND or equivalent technical qualification in a relevant engineering discipline, or comparable industry experience.
  • Proven lift installation experience with leadership of engineering teams.
  • Knowledge of lift industry standards, legislation and safe working practices.
  • Ability to plan workloads, prioritise activities and manage multiple projects.
  • Strong customer relationship and stakeholder management skills.
  • Commercial awareness with an understanding of project cost control.
  • Excellent problem-solving, organisational and communication skills.
  • A full UK driving licence.

Responsibilities

  • Leading, planning and coordinating the activities of installation engineers to ensure projects are delivered safely, efficiently and in line with operational objectives.
  • Recruiting, coaching, developing and supporting team members, helping them achieve high levels of performance and engagement.
  • Monitoring project progress, productivity and quality standards across multiple installation projects.
  • Maintaining accurate operational records and reporting, including the use of SAP and other business systems.
  • Carrying out site safety inspections and audits, promoting best practice and driving a strong safety culture.
  • Supporting engineers with technical and operational challenges to maintain project delivery targets.
  • Collaborating with Project Managers to support cost control, quotations and overall project performance.
  • Coordinating the timely delivery of materials, equipment and tooling to ensure uninterrupted project delivery.
  • Building and maintaining strong customer relationships, acting as a key point of contact throughout the installation lifecycle.
  • Driving customer satisfaction through proactive communication and effective issue resolution.
  • Managing team performance and ensuring resources are allocated effectively across projects.
  • Ensuring all work is completed in accordance with health, safety, environmental and quality standards, while leading by example.

Field Manager

As a Field Manager, you'll lead a team of installation engineers across London and the South, overseeing the delivery of lift installation projects from planning through to completion. You'll play a key role in ensuring projects are delivered safely, on time and to the highest quality standards, while developing your team, building strong customer relationships and driving operational performance. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced installation professional looking to take the next step into a broader operational leadership role.

Your Main Responsibilities

Essential Who you are
  • NVQ, HND or equivalent technical qualification in a relevant engineering discipline, or comparable industry experience
  • Proven experience within lift installation, including experience leading, supervising or coordinating engineering teams
  • Strong knowledge of current lift industry standards, legislation and safe working practices
  • Ability to plan workloads, prioritise activities and manage multiple projects effectively
  • Strong customer relationship and stakeholder management skills
  • Commercial awareness with an understanding of project cost control and delivery
  • Excellent problem-solving, organisational and communication skills
  • A proactive approach with strong attention to detail
  • A full driving licence valid for use in the UK
Desirable
  • Previous experience managing lift installation projects
  • Experience using SAP or similar business management systems
  • Knowledge of Schindler products, systems and processes
