Job summary

National Grid plc is seeking a Maintenance Assistant to inspect and maintain high-voltage equipment across substations. You will travel between sites in a company EV, perform routine checks, and support 3rd party access while adhering to safety procedures.

The role requires practical skills, reliability, and the ability to work with digital instructions on an iPad. Candidates should live within 30 minutes of Gloucester or Melksham and hold a full UK driving licence.

Qualifications

• Experience in an industrial or operational setting with practical inspection skills.
• Able to work to targets and deadlines with adherence to safety procedures.
• Keen eye for detail and ability to flag issues.
• Comfortable using a laptop and iPad to follow digital work instructions.
• Full UK driving licence held.
• Reside within 30 minutes of Gloucester or Melksham.
• Mechanical/electrical or general engineering experience.

Responsibilities
