Job summary

National Grid is seeking a Maintenance Assistant to inspect and maintain high-voltage equipment across substations. You will travel between sites in a company vehicle, enable access for contractors, and perform routine checks following digital work instructions on an iPad.

The role suits practical, outdoors‑oriented individuals who work to targets and safety procedures, with a full UK driving licence and the ability to live within 30 minutes of Gloucester or Melksham.

Qualifications

• Experience inspecting and maintaining equipment in an industrial/operational setting.
• Able to work to targets and safety procedures with attention to detail.
• Can operate a laptop and iPad to follow digital work instructions.
• Full UK driving licence and live within 30 minutes of Gloucester or Melksham.

Responsibilities

• Inspect and maintain high-voltage equipment across substations.
• Provide access for third-party contractors and coordinate on site.
