Job summary

The Port of London Authority is seeking a Field Engineer to join our IT Navigation Systems team, with a focus on RADAR, VHF and microwave, plus other sensor systems, across operational Thames locations.

The role requires participation in an on‑call rota (one week in four) and a full, clean driving licence; travel within one‑hour commute to Gravesend is expected. We offer extensive training and development, plus safety certifications to support your work.

Qualifications

• A Degree, or equivalent qualification, in electronic engineering or related discipline.
• Minimum five years’ practical experience in a comparable role or setting.
• In‑depth knowledge of RADAR, radio and microwave engineering, with design, maintenance and repair experience.
• Meet health, safety and certification requirements, including working at height.
• Full, clean manual driving licence.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and support operational equipment and systems across locations.
• Guide planning, installation and ongoing support for critical equipment.
• Deliver a strong customer‑service focus with methodical attention to detail.
• Remain focussed under pressure, be a team player and work independently to deadlines.
