Job summary

ISR RECRUITMENT LIMITED is seeking a hands-on Field Engineer to support highways technology across Berkshire, Hampshire and Surrey. The role involves maintaining electrical, electronic and communications equipment, fault-finding, and working independently in the field.

Full training will be provided on the specialist roadside technology and equipment. You will carry out planned and reactive maintenance, diagnose faults, record work and coordinate with other engineers to keep sites operating

Qualifications

• Previous experience as a Field Engineer, Service Engineer, Maintenance Engineer, Technician, Electrical Engineer or similar.
• Good fault-finding and problem-solving skills.
• Basic understanding of electrical power and/or communications systems.

Responsibilities

• Carry out planned and reactive maintenance of electrical and electronic equipment.
• Diagnose and repair electrical, electronic and communications faults.
• Attend equipment failures and restore systems to operation.
• Complete routine inspections and preventative maintenance.
• Install, test and replace equipment and components where required.
• Work with a variety of roadside technology, including cameras, communications equipment, detection systems and electronic signage.
• Accurately record maintenance work, faults and repairs.
• Coordinate with other engineers to manage maintenance and inspection schedules.
• Work independently across a defined geographical area.
• Participate in occasional night or out-of-hours work where required.

Field Engineer (Highways Technology)

• South-East England - covering Berkshire, Hampshire, Surrey
• £36,000 to £42,000 per year (+ Vehicle and Overtime)

The Opportunity

We are looking for a hands-on Field Service Engineer or Technician to join a team responsible for maintaining electrical, electronic and communications equipment across sites throughout Berkshire, Hampshire and Surrey.

You do not need previous highways experience. We are interested in speaking with engineers from a broad range of field service and maintenance backgrounds who are comfortable fault-finding electrical/electronic equipment and working independently in the field.

Relevant backgrounds could include CCTV, security systems, telecoms, traffic signals, ANPR, parking systems, access control, communications equipment, industrial electronics, street lighting, electrical maintenance or other field-based technology systems.

Full training will be provided on the specialist roadside technology and equipment.

Skills & Experience

• Previous experience as a Field Engineer, Service Engineer, Maintenance Engineer, Technician, Electrical Engineer or similar.
• Practical experience maintaining or repairing electrical, electronic, communications or technology equipment.
• Good fault-finding and problem-solving skills.
• Basic understanding of electrical power and/or communications systems.
• Comfortable working independently and travelling between customer/site locations.
• Experience with CCTV, ANPR, traffic signals, telecoms, security systems, roadside equipment or similar technology would be advantageous but is not essential.
• G39, HERS8, NRSWA or NHSS8 qualifications would be advantageous, but candidates without these qualifications will still be considered.
• Full UK driving licence.
