Job summary

A leading recruitment agency is seeking a Field Engineer to maintain roadside electronic equipment across Gloucestershire, Somerset, and Wiltshire areas. The successful candidate will have previous experience in electrical maintenance and fault-finding. Responsibilities include routine maintenance, fault repair, and coordination with engineers. This role offers a competitive salary of £35,000 to £40,000 plus vehicle and overtime. Candidates with a background in telecoms, traffic signals, or CCTV will be given preference. Training will be provided where necessary.

Qualifications

• Experience in electrical/electronic/telecoms maintenance environment.
• Ability to fault-find at component level.
• Desirable qualifications include G39, HERS8, NRSWA, and NHSS8.

Responsibilities

• Respond to and repair roadside equipment faults.
• Perform routine maintenance on all equipment.
• Conduct preventative maintenance to minimize faults.
• Fault-find to component level.
• Coordinate with lead engineers on maintenance schedules.
• Night work required when necessary.

The Opportunity:

Are you a Field Engineer/Technician with an electrical, comms or electronics background? We are currently recruiting a Field Engineer role to maintain the technology on motorways and trunk roads around the Gloucestershire, Somerset and Wiltshire areas.

You will conduct installation, maintenance and fault-finding activities on a variety of roadside electronic equipment within your patch (VMS, ANPR, MIDAS, Roadside telephones, etc.).

I am happy to speak to individuals coming from backgrounds in traffic signals, motorway communication, CCTV and RTPI, as training will be provided for those coming from outside of the sector.

Skills and Experience:

• Previous experience working in an electrical/electronic/telecoms maintenance environment
• Experience of fault-finding equipment at component level
• An understanding of power and comms would be very useful
• CCTV or ANPR knowledge would be an advantage
• Current G39, HERS8, NRSWA, NHSS8 Qualification (highly desirable)

Role and Responsibilities:

• Fault response and repair of roadside equipment
• Carry out routine maintenance visits on all equipment in line with provided schedule
• Conduct preventative maintenance to reduce fault rates
• Carry out fault finding to component level
• Coordinate with the lead engineers to arrange maintenance and inspection schedules
• Able to undertake night working when required
