Job summary

ITP in Chelmsford is recruiting for a Field Engineer Apprentice to join their team in Chelmsford. This Level 4 Network Engineer apprenticeship will kick-start your career with hands-on engineering experience while you learn through structured, real-world projects.

You'll work with experienced engineers on installations, fault resolution, and customer site work across Essex, with a mix of on-site sessions and classroom learning, supported by mentorship and safeguarding commitments.

Qualifications

• Passionate about IT, telecoms, or technology.
• Reliable, professional, and keen to learn.
• Confident communicators with a positive, engaging personality.
• Able to work independently and as part of a team.
• Full UK driving licence and able to commute to Essex (Chelmsford area).

Responsibilities

• Assist with installation and maintenance of telecoms and network equipment.
• Assist with site surveys, cabling, and equipment setup.
• Learn to identify and troubleshoot network faults and connectivity issues.
• Shadow engineers on customer visits across Essex.
• Gain experience working in public sector environments (councils, schools, healthcare).
• Support with documentation, updates, and system records.
• Develop understanding of health, safety and compliance standards in the field.
