Job summary

National Gas is seeking a Craftsperson to maintain and repair critical gas infrastructure across the UK and Ireland. Based at Ambergate with site-based, five-day weeks, you’ll join a specialist field team delivering maintenance, repair, inspection, and emergency response services.

You’ll work on under-pressure drilling, flow stopping, valve repair, recompression, and in-line inspection while ensuring safety and quality. A driving licence and practical engineering experience are essential.

Qualifications

• Experience in operational maintenance, repair, or mechanical engineering.
• Strong understanding of safe working practices.
• Ability to use computer systems to access and record operational information.
• Full UK driving licence.
• NVQ Level 3 or equivalent/apprenticeship preferred.

Responsibilities

• Support specialist activities including under-pressure drilling, flow stopping, valve repair, recompression, testing, and in-line inspection.
• Deliver maintenance and repair work to keep gas networks safe and efficient.
• Prepare and maintain tools, materials, and specialist equipment for field operations.
• Ensure all work is completed safely and in line with industry and National Gas standards.
• Record operational information, materials, and additional works accurately.
• Take part in the standby rota to support emergency pipeline repair services.
