Job summary

YMCA Wellington is looking for a Housing Compliance Officer to manage the New College Apartments and oversee statutory compliance across all sites. You will handle housing applications, sign-ups, rent flows, and safety checks while staying aligned with safeguarding and GDPR policies.

The role requires practical housing management experience, CIH/IOSH qualifications, and a full UK driving licence. You will collaborate with the Housing Manager and maintenance teams to ensure a safe, compliant

Qualifications

• Experience in a housing officer or housing management role.
• Good working knowledge of housing legislation, tenancy management, and landlord obligations.
• Experience of sign-up processes, Universal Credit housing costs, and tenancy deposit schemes.
• Understanding of statutory compliance requirements including gas safety, fire safety, EICR, EPC, and PAT testing.
• Experience maintaining compliance records and trackers to ensure certificates and checks remain current.
• Experience managing rent accounts, monitoring arrears, and KPI reporting.

Responsibilities

• Participate in the application and assessment process for New College Apartments and keep the Housing Manager updated on voids.
• Produce induction paperwork for new residents and carry out sign-up meetings explaining rights and responsibilities.
• Assist residents with Universal Credit housing costs and submit council tax information promptly.
• Submit and amend tenancy deposits within required timescales and manage deposits.
• Set up utility accounts for new residents and upload information to internal systems.
• Assist with housing-related complaints and issue warnings for breaches of occupancy.
• Carry out pre-void inspections and arrange void turnarounds.
• Track repairs via the maintenance system and undertake basic safety tasks.
