Job summary

Colchester Institute seeks an Apprenticeship Coach to support ECFRS in guiding Operational Firefighter Level 3 apprentices from sign-up through end-point assessment. The role is field-based with regular travel across Essex and runs at 10 hours a week all year.

Candidates must be actively working as firefighters within the Fire & Rescue Service. The coach will liaise with employers, colleges and apprentices to ensure understanding of knowledge, skills, and end-point requirements, and will perform

Qualifications

• Level 2 English and maths (GCSE 4/C or equivalent)
• Technical qualification at Level 3 or above
• Actively working as a firefighter within the Fire & Rescue Service
• Experience liaising with stakeholders internal and external to the organisation

Responsibilities

• Coach apprentices in the workplace to stay on track for completion
• Liaise with employer, apprentices and college staff on knowledge, skills, behaviours and end-point assessment
• Carry out apprenticeship sign-ups, admin and guidance to watch managers and new apprentices
• Coordinate with Colchester Institute delivery teams to ensure quality assurance
• Conduct 10-week progress reviews with milestones and off-the-job training plan
• Promote safeguarding, Prevent, equality and British values in meetings
• Assist apprentices for gateway, completion and end-point assessment with clear communication
• Maintain apprentice records in Learning Hub and relevant VLEs
