Job summary

Comex 2000 is seeking an experienced Fibre Optic Engineer to join our team in the UK. You will splice, test, commission, and fault-find across new-build and live fibre networks, ensuring high standards of safety and reliability.

You will work hands-on with OTDRs and power meters, read network diagrams, and collaborate with clients and colleagues to deliver quality connections in varied environments.

Qualifications

• Strong technical skills in fibre splicing, testing, and diagnostics.
• Ability to read and interpret network diagrams and documentation.
• Excellent communication, organisation, and problem-solving skills.
• Comfortable working outdoors in all weather conditions.
• Experience on live and new-build fibre networks.
• Knowledge of FTTP/FTTH/PON/GPON architectures.
• Familiarity with NRSWA requirements and client procedures.

Responsibilities

• Installing, terminating, and testing fibre cables across various environments.
• Fusion splicing using Fujikura or similar equipment.
• Building and installing ODFs, joints, cabinets, and enclosures.
• Carrying out live network splicing and repairs.
• Performing proactive and reactive maintenance on networks.
• Diagnosing faults to minimise downtime and producing test reports.
• Interpreting diagrams, schematics, and job packs.
• Reporting progress through digital systems.
